One of the food commodities that is currently attracting the attention of the Jakarta Provincial Government is curly chilies, which are currently experiencing a price spike.
4,800 Chili Seedlings Distributed in Thousand Islands This Year"During Eid al-Fitr and Ramadan, the Jakarta government is certainly monitoring all of these essential needs in detail. The price of curly chilies has indeed increased," said Pramono, Thursday (2/19).
He explained the current increase in the price of curly chilies was triggered by disruptions to the supply chain from producing areas, both Java and South Sulawesi, which experienced a decrease in quantity due to high rainfall.
Pramono is optimistic that the supply of curly chilies will increase again in the next two weeks, as the rainfall begins to subside. This return of curly chili supplies will also lead to lower chili prices.
"I am sure that in the next week or two, the price of chilies in Jakarta will definitely return to normal," he hoped.
To accelerate price stabilization and curb inflation in Jakarta, Pramono has prepared several market intervention measures. One of these is purchasing chilies directly from the source and distributing them directly to retailers.
"We will buy chilies, then sell them to retailers or traders, giving a profit of Rp 5 thousand so that the price is controlled," he added.
Through this intervention, it is hoped that chili prices in the community can be controlled.
